Our History

Dr. Karen Leland founded The Cat Hospital in 1977, creating one of the original exclusively feline practices in the United States.  In 1982 Dr. Shanker became director and owner of the practice.  Dr. Shanker and Dr. Leland worked together for many years until Dr. Leland moved permanently to Washington state.  In 1991 The Cat Hospital moved to its current location, which has 6,000 square feet of hospital space.
