Because cats are stoic by nature and often do not present obvious signs of illness, we stress the importance of an annual physical examination. Thorough check-ups and preventive care can help alleviate serious health problems. We offer a wide range of veterinary services to keep your companions feeling their best:

Diagnostic:  The Cat Hospital has both in-house and referred laboratory services that enable our veterinarians to work up cases in a thorough and timely fashion.

Anesthesia: The Cat Hospital anesthesia/sedation protocols are designed and monitored to maximize our patient's safety.

Surgery: A full range of surgical services are provided including spays, neuters, soft tissue and orthopedic procedures of varying complexities. Dr. Shanker and staff have performed thousands of surgical procedures and are well equipped to assess and attend to your cat's surgical needs.

Internal Medicine: As a general/specialty practice, The Cat Hospital welcomes routine, referral and second opinion medical cases. A complete medical workup can be provided including your choice of diagnostic procedures when appropriate.

Cancer therapy: Cancer can be a frightening word but many types of feline neoplasia can be successfully treated.  The Cat Hospital is equipped to manage a variety of treatment options for our patients including chemotherapy, cancer surgery, and off-site radiation. We understand the importance of a thorough discussion with you concerning diagnosis, cancer treatment options and expectations prior to initiating therapy.

Imaging:  Our on-site X-ray equipment provides high quality radiographs to aid in the quick diagnosis of many disorders.  In addition, on-site ultrasound/echocardiogram procedures are performed by board certified radiologists. This includes ultrasound-guided fine needle aspirates/biopsies.

Dentistry: Dental procedures including oral surgery, routine cleaning and extractions are performed at The Cat Hospital. All dental procedures are performed by the doctor in the surgery suite with cardiac monitoring.

Boarding: The Cat Hospital provides both short term and long term boarding, with standard cages as well as deluxe cages available. Our staff is committed to ensuring your cat's stay will be comfortable. During morning doctor rounds every cat in the hospital is evaluated. Should any abnormality be noted you will be contacted and your cat's status discussed. If your cat is required to take medicine while boarding our trained veterinary staff will provide the appropriate care.  Advance reservations for boarding are recommended, especially during holiday periods when demand is high.

Pharmacy:  We maintain a complete inventory of pharmaceuticals to meet the needs of your cat. We also carry a full line of prescription diets.
   
Grooming:  Full bathing and grooming services are available at The Cat Hospital. The appropriate therapeutic bath will be given depending on your cat's needs. Since cats are not small dogs, some of the grooming procedures may be different from your canine pets. Many long hair cats are prone to chronic matting, thus body shaves and lion cuts can provide greater comfort. Our staff can review what is best for your cat when the cat is admitted for grooming.

Permanent identification: We offer microchip identification.
    
Dietary Counseling:  We will provide guidance regarding your pet's nutritional needs for each life stage, including dietary requirements for growth, weight maintenance and performance.  We carry a wide range of prescription diets that address specific medical conditions in cats.
    
Behavioral Counseling:  We can provide advice regarding the correction of issues such as spraying, scratching and litterbox problems.
